Winsock Connect Error:

System Error: 10061

System Message:

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Unfortunately, the Winsock 10061 errors is not directly related to the DameWare Mini Remote Control program. Please make sure NetBios is enabled (i.e. NetBios over IP (NetBT/WINS), NetBios over IPX, etc...). You should easily be able to duplicate this issue outside of our software by attempting to map a drive to a shared resource on the remote machine (i.e. Net use X: \\MachineName\Admin$). Please also verify that File & Printer Sharing is installed on the remote machine. Also, if the remote machine is on a different subnet, please also keep in mind that all the necessary "File & Printer Sharing" ports must also be open on the routers/firewalls between the machines for the Mini Remote Control program to remotely install, start, stop, or remove the DMRC Client Agent Service.

Here is some additional information about the 10061 error that may help out:

Although the Mini Remote Control (DMRC) program uses a single TCP port (default is TCP 6129 however any valid TCP port can be used) to establish a remote connect session, other ports are required to be open to remotely install, start, stop, & remove the DMRC Client Agent Service, basically "File & Printer Sharing". The Mini Remote Control program will first attempt a TCP connection to the remote machine. If nothing is listening on the specified port (i.e. DMRC Client Agent Service not installed or a mismatch in TCP port usage), the DMRC program will drop out of it's TCP mode and use the installed protocols to attempt to interrogate the remote machine. If the DMRC program cannot find the remote machine via the installed protocols (i.e. configuration issue or ports blocked), you will receive the Winsock 10061 error. Please also keep in mind that if local & remote machines were on different subnets, the necessary ports must also be open on the routers between the subnets for the DMRC program to remotely install, start, stop, & remove the DMRC Client Agent Service. However, if the DMRC Client Agent Service were already installed on a remote machine, then only a single TCP port is required.

Additionally, the Server Service, the Workstation Service, & the RPC Service are all required in order to remotely install, remove, start, & stop the Mini Remote Control Client Agent Service. These Services are also required for DNTU to work properly.
