The General Options Tab of the Local Global Options dialog allows you to customize the look and feel of the MRC application, and the way you view and/or print the desktop of the remote machine.
Show Local Cursor As a Dot: Changes the mouse cursor on the local machine to a dot within the MRC window during a Mini Remote connection.
Warning Border on Connect: The Warning Border on Connect option allows you to displays the MRC connection window surrounded by a warning border, which aids in the recognition between the local and remote screen. This option can be enabled or disabled at your discretion. This feature is not supported under Vista. Changes the mouse cursor on the local machine to a dot within the MRC window during a Mini Remote connection.
Prompt for updating existing host entries: Whenever changes are made to the default Host Properties dialog, this setting will also prompt the user to apply these updates existing Host Entries as well.
Flash window on Connect: If the MRC window is not the current active window, this setting flashes the application tray & title bar for the MRC window upon establishing a connection. In other words, if you start to connect and then click on a different window, this will alert you that a connection was made.
Play sound on Connect: This setting will play a connect sound on your local machine when you establish a Mini Remote Control session.
Animate Full Screen Toolbar: When enabled, this setting will allow around the Full Screen Toolbar to Fade In and Out during an active session. However, the Full-Screen toolbar is only displayed when entering into Full-Screen mode.
Display Multi Monitor Toolbar: This setting will display the Mini Remote Multi-Monitor Toolbar, when you connect to a remote machine running multiple monitors. Unless you are in Full Screen mode, hence the Multi-Monitor menu will be automatically appended to the end of the Full Screen toolbar.
Set Smart Sizing on Full Screen (If Needed): This setting allows the Mini Remote Control application to automatically enable the Smart Sizing feature when changing into "Full-Screen" mode.
Use Screen Work Area for Full Screen: The "Work Area" within your O/S is defined as your Entire Screen area excluding your TaskBar area. Therefore, enabling this feature will place the MRC window in Full-Screen mode, but the MRC Window will be placed above your local machine’s Task Bar (only within the Work Area).
Resize Window on Connect: When this setting is enabled, the MRC software will automatically resize the MRC window to match the resolution on the remote machine, and enable the Full Screen button, as well as enable Smart Sizing if necessary. If this setting is disabled, then no resizing of the MRC window is done, and the remote screen will be displayed within the current sized MRC window. You will then have to manually resize the MRC window on your own.
Add Only Saved Host Entries to Reconnect List: This setting is enabled by default. This setting will only add entries (after you connect) to the Reconnect drop down list, if they have already been saved to the Saved Host List. (Temporary) entries are not saved, because any modifications to the settings of (temporary) entries are not saved. The settings for (temporary) entries will revert back to default host properties settings after you disconnect. Therefore, if you allow (temporary) entries to be added to your reconnect list, then you may be reconnecting with different settings than you had defined previously.
Reuse any MRC Window that is not busy: Enabling this option will cause the Mini Remote Control program to look for an existing open MRC window that is not busy, before opening a brand new window. In order for that existing window to be available, there must not currently be an MRC connection, or any dialog currently displayed within that window. In prior versions, whenever you opened the MRC program, you would always get another instance of the software. With this setting enabled, you could potentiall reuse the same instance over and over again.
Disable All Sound: Enabling this option will disable all sound notifications during the MRC connection. When opening a MRC connection over an existing RDP connection, machine could lock up and sound off loud hissing noise, if sound was being redirected over RDP.
Use Windows Hot Keys: Enables the "Use Windows Hot Keys" option by default (Toolbar icon and in View menu). With Use Windows Hot Keys enabled, you will be capable of implementing three of the Windows Hot Keys.
These hot keys are:
Note: This option is also available by clicking on the Enable/Disable Windows Hot Keys icon on the toolbar, or by selecting the View / Use Windows Hot Keys menu option.
This option is only available for Windows NT 4 Service Pack 3 or greater and above (including Windows 2000/XP/2003).
Check SFT Shell Menu: When enabled, the “Check SFT Shell Menu” functionality will automatically try to determine if the O/S has registered the "DameWare MRC/Copy to Remote Host" Simple File Transfer (SFT) Explorer Shell Menu on your local machine, and then display an informational message letting you know. If the MRC softare is unable to determine if the SFT Shell has been registered, then you may or may not be able to right-click on a file or folder (locally) to transfer it to the remote machine. If it’s not enabled, then no check is done and no message is displayed.
Names Resolution Conflict Check: When enabled, the “Names Resolution Conflict Check” functionality will automatically interrogate the actual Host Name on the remote machine, and then compare it to the HostName you supplied in the MRC Remote Connect dialog to make your connection, and then display a warning message if they are different stating that you may have a possible Names Resolution conflict within your environment. When an IP-Address is supplied, then no Names Resolution check is done. When using FQDN, only the beginning part of the FQDN (preceeding the 1st period) is checked.
Print Options – Keep Aspect: By default the Mini Remote will scale the print out of the remote screens desktop to fit on one page. Enable the Keep Aspect option to maintain the remote machine’s Aspect Ratio when printing the desktop. |
