Depending on your network configuration & implementation (File & Printer Sharing, blocked ports, etc....), there are many different ways to install the Mini Remote Client Agent on a remote machine.
Here is some additional information that should help you out.
These first two solutions are basically for manually installing the Client Agent, which can be done on any machine, however a manual installation is always required for Windows 95, 98, Me, or XP Home. 1. You can manually install or remove the Client Agent Service on any machine: The Mini Remote Client Agent Service can be manually installed on any Operating System by copying the appropriate files from the DameWare Development installation folder on your local machine to the System32 folder on the remote machine (Windows\System for 95/98/Me or SYSWOW64 for 64-bit Operating Systems), and then running a simple command to install the Client Agent as a Service. You can also easily remove the Mini Remote Client Agent via a few simple commands as well.

2. You can use the new MSI package to install the MRC Client Agent:
Older 6.x versions prior to 6.2 included some temporary pre-built MSI packages (DWRCS32.MSI, DWRCSVista32.MSI, DWRCS95.MSI) to install the MRC Client Agent Service on a machine. However, the current version of our software also now includes the fully completed version of the DameWare MRC Client Agent MSI builder, which allows you to build custom MSI packages (including all settings, INI or Registry) to deploy the MRC Client Agent in your environment. These MSI packages can then be sent to your clients (or even distributed via Group Policies within Corporate Environments, etc...) via any of your existing distribution methods.
Also, just FYI, after you install v6.x of the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine, once the Agent starts up it should automatically create a port exception in the Windows Firewall under Vista (or XP) for the specified TCP port used to make a connection (default is TCP 6129). But make note this does not open the ports required to remotely install, remove, start, or stop the MRC Client Agent Service, only the port used for communication.
Using the MSI files to install the MRC Client Agent on a remote machine is also the new recommended method of installation for the Client Agent Service, especially given the new Security Model and the Windows Firewall settings in Vista which by default blocks ports in both directions. Customers can now use their existing distribution methods (Group Policies, SMS, Altiris, etc...) to distribute these MSI package throughout their environment.
Remotely Installing the Client Agent Service The Mini Remote Client Agent can also be remotely installed or removed over a LAN, WAN, or even the Internet. However, the ability to perform this functionality is entirely dependent on your network configuration & implementation, and even the O/S on the remote machine. See DWRCS Installation Requirements (above)
3. The MRC Client Agent can be Installed / Upgraded / Downgraded "on the fly": When you attempt to connect to a remote machine using the Mini Remote Control program, if the Mini Remote Client Agent is not installed on the remote machine, then you should be prompted with the following dialog: "The Mini Remote Client Agent is not installed. Would you like to install it?". From this dialog, you can select the Install Options button to customize the Settings for the Client Agent (make sure to enable the "Copy configuration file DWRCS.INI" setting), or you can simply click on the OK button to install the Service to the remote machine.
Also, if the Client Agent is older or newer that the version of the software on your local machine, then provided your credentials have Administrator rights on the remote machine, then you will also have the option to automatically upgrade/downgrade the Client Agent accordingly. 4. The MRC Client Agent can be Installed / Removed via the MRC main menu: You can also remotely install or remove the MRC Client Agent by selecting File / Install Service or File / Remove Service from the Mini Remote Control program's main menu. To update the Client Agent on a remote machine, simply remove the older service first, then install the new one.

5. The MRC Client Agent can be Installed / Removed via the full NT Utilities program: The easiest and most efficient way to remotely install / remove / update the Mini Remote Client Agent Service is through the DameWare NT Utilities program, via the Service View. DNTU's Services View has the ability to remotely install or remove the Mini Remote Control Client Agent Service to multiple machines at the same time including customization of the DWRCS.INI file. This method also requires that "File & Printer Sharing" be installed on the remote machine and all the necessary "File & Printer Sharing" ports must also be open on the routers/firewalls between the local & remote machines.
