Accessing machines with different keyboard layouts

Индекс  Назад  Вперед

If both machines are using the same keyboard layout (i.e. English to English, Danish to Danish, Hebrew to Hebrew, etc....), then you may also want to turn on the "Disable Keyboard Translation" feature within those Saved Host entries. If the machines are different keyboard layouts, then you may want to try to enable the "Enable Foreign Keyboard Mapping" feature.

When the remote & local machines are using different keyboard layouts, there is no guarantee that the DameWare "Mini" Remote Control program will work in all cases, especially if the key you are attempting to type does not exist in the other keyboard's character set.

However, as another possible work-around, we've also had some luck with the "Enable Foreign Keyboard Mapping" feature enabled by using the [ALT + XXXX] keys.

For example: We did some testing in the past with a machine running US Keyboard layout and the remote machine running Swiss (German). With the "Enable Foreign Keyboard Mapping" feature enabled, when we pressed the $ key on the local keyboard we received some other key on the remote machine. However, if we pressed [ALT + 0036] then we receive the $ symbol on the remote machine.
